I'm excited to go and cast my vote today, and I hope you are too! I wasn't looking forward to standing out in the rain for a couple of hours, but if that's what it takes, then I'm willing to do it, however, the rain has stopped, for now, at least. Rick and I, like many of you, have been religiously following the election coverage and will probably go through withdrawals once it is all over with. Tonight we'll be glued to our television for the full coverage.
Though we won't say who we are voting for, I will say that I'm very proud to have attended the same high school as Barack Obama. He was class of '79 and I was Class of '90. If he wins, it will be a huge coup not just for the country, but also for all of us in Hawaii, and for Punahou School.
Another thing I'm excited about today is my upcoming interview with cake designer Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes in NYC, which I'll be posting Part 1 of tomorrow. I really enjoyed interviewing Elisa. She is an amazing talent and provided me with an abundance of information to share with all of you about her business, her cakes and her upcoming release of her new cookbook, which, as a unbelievable coincidence, will be out tomorrow in stores! So after you go and VOTE today, and before you settle in for the long haul of election coverage, take a virtual stroll to NYC's Confetti Cakes, to see her beautiful collection of cakes, and join us back here tomorrow for Part 1 of our interview!
Aloha!

My daughter is a cake designer from Sacramento and just got back from NYC where she had her 3rd private class with Elisa. Your blog is one of my favorites and I've passed it on to my daughter. Elisa mentioned my daughter, Tessa, on the Confetti Cake blog. Check her out on frostedcake.blogspot.com. Our family is originally from Kahuku and I envy all the flavors you offer.
We're glad you are enjoying our blog and thank you for sharing Tessa's blog with us. What a fantastic experience for her to take private classes with Elisa. She'll definitely want to read Elisa's interview tomorrow and Friday.
