Natalie and Justin - Absolutely Memorable in Waikiki

All photos courtesy of Absolutely Loved: Stefanie and Anna Riedel

If Natalie and Justin’s names sound familiar, it’s because they have been featured on our blog before. Remember the sweet couple who gifted us on their wedding day with a full cooler of fish they brought over from Alaska?

As a couple, Natalie and Justin are hard to forget. Not because they brought us fish or had two awesome cakes at their wedding, but two warm-hearted beautiful people, are especially difficult to forget once we’ve seen the images of their wedding. One of our favorite photographic teams, the absolutely wonderful Stefanie and Anna Riedel of Absolutely Loved sent us some of their favorite images from Natalie and Justin’s wedding in Waikiki last month. These images truly captured Absolutely Loved’s gorgeous romantic style as well as Natalie and Justin’s radiance on their wedding day.

Thanks to Stefanie and her daughter Anna, for sharing with us their amazing work! Visit absolutelyloved.com to see more.

Totally Bizarre - Cakey, The Cake From Outer Space

I'm afraid I can't take credit for finding this one, folks. This one I owe to my awesome husband Rick who recently discovered the web series Cakey! The Cake From Outer Space. If you are not familiar with this totally bizarre web series with a cult following, it's worth taking a peek, especially if you are at work and have time to kill. The plot revolves around Duncan, a boy with a disease that causes him to age prematurely and his anorexic, transvestite father, and of course, Cakey, a talking cake from outer space with magic powers. Hilarity ensues. We haven't watched every episode and I'm not sure what to make of the ones I have seen, but it's good to know that shows like this exist .... I think.

You can view all the episodes of Cakey! The Cake From Outer Space, on SuperDeluxe.com or on the official Cakey site, at mrghost.net .

Elmo and Sesame Street in Birthday Cakeland

cakelava.com
I admit it. Sometimes we just have too much damn fun while we're working, and this Elmo and Sesame Street themed birthday cake we delivered over the weekend to our client Marianne made her smile as much as it put a silly grin on our face. Marianne fell in love with Rick's JoJo Circus themed cake on cakelava.com and wanted a cake with a similar feel -- BRIGHT, fun and playful, but in a Sesame Street theme, with an emphasis on the super cute red furry one. She chose our Hot Fudge Sundae and Strawberries Chantilly flavors to serve to her son Stephan's birthday guests. By the look on their face, Elmo and Grover were ecstatic they could wish Stephan a "Happy Birthday", and were just as excited to take the hour and a half drive out to the North Shore to meet Marianne and her family in person. Yippee!!

See our Elmo and Sesame Street themed birthday cake newly posted on cakelava.com along with many other sculpted and non-sculpted art cakes.

Karla and Jason, May the Force be with You!

Over the weekend we got a very special thank you card in the mail from our client's Karla and Jason. We featured Karla and Jason's wedding details on our blog back in August. Rick and I were both truly touched by Karla and Jason's kindness, and their taking the time to write a handwritten note of appreciation.

Dear Rick and Sasha,

There are no words... so we have to hope that "Thank You" will be enough. Thank you for working with us for over a year to make our wedding day cake wishes come true. Jason has wanted a groom's cake since before we even got engaged, and his Millennium Falcon cake was more than we ever could have imagined -- and made him the envy of every male (and some female) guests at our wedding. We also truly loved our custom cupcake tier and the way you incorporated our monogram into the design. We hope that this is only the beginning of many special celebrations with cakelava cakes. Thank you!

Jason and Karla

Jason and Karla, we're glad you involved us in your wedding day. The two of you were so sweet and fun to work with and we wish you both many years of happiness together!

-- Sasha & Rick
