The Phenomenon we call "The Leslies"

If you've visited cakelava.com recently, you may have noticed that on the first page alone we have 4 cakes named leslie/lesley (variation in spelling). We have the newly added "lesley p", the "leslie h", the "lesley e" and the "leslie t", and let's not forget the "leslie r" cake on page 3 of the Weddings slideshow. All five cakes for the Leslie/Lesley's were made in the past year and they are all very different. I remember talking on the phone to Liz who was working for event coordination company Weddings by Grace & Mona and told her I was calling about "Leslie's" cake. She said "which one? -- Leslie T or Leslie R" and I said "Leslie R" and she replied "that's Jen's Leslie. My Leslie is Leslie T, let me transfer you." Now this response was nothing personal, it was more about who was working on which bride's wedding, but I should have realized with all the different Leslie/Lesley's we had on the books (5 in the past year) that one day we could be facing a cake-naming conundrum on cakelava.com.

Just having a bunch of brides named Leslie/Lesley is more of a coincidence than a phenomenon. However when 4 out of 12 of our Featured Weddings in the course of a year are named Leslie/Lesley, there's something strange going on. Leslie R was the first Leslie chosen to be a Featured Wedding last year, and she was actually chosen by all of you! You may recall ...

Then there was Leslie T, whose November 2008 wedding was our January 2009 Featured Wedding ...

These are 2 of the 4 Leslies. The other 2 are about to be featured, one right after the other, and no, it wasn't planned that way. All Featured Weddings are selected based on criteria none of which includes the bride's name, but I gotta admit it is pretty strange.

Join us back here tomorrow when we reveal our next Featured Wedding, Lesley and Jason. Incidentally, Lesley's makeup artist was Leslie Gallagher...

Aloha, til next time!

It's the work of the universe, clearly. We're destined to work with the Leslie/Lesley's and they are destined to be featured apparently. Thank you both for your comments!
