When Hello Kitty Celebrates with R2-D2
Over the weekend we did a fun, but unsual 1st birthday celebration. Our client Randy ordered Hello Kitty themed cupcake tiers with sculpted Hello Kitty cake for his daughter Mikayla's birthday. He provided us with Mikayla's invitations and the cupcake tower perfectly reflected that. A while after Randy placed the order, I receive a request from his sister Grace who was interested in ordering a cake for their older brother's birthday (who apparently was named Tito). Their brother loves STAR WARS and is observing his birthday this week, but since everyone would be at the party, they wanted to order him a special sculpted birthday cake in the shape of R2-D2. This is the second time Rick has sculpted an R2-D2, and the second time he's sculpted a cake for Randy's family. We were very happy with both the sculpted cakes and cupcakes, and from the reaction of people in the room upon delivery, so were they. I loved the writing on the R2-D2 cake: "Happy Birthday Master Tito. May the Force Be with You." Though the room was completely decked out in Hello Kitty (centerpieces, balloons, etc), R2-D2 held his own on the other side and the two icons co-existed beautifully.
We'll be putting up these two cakes and so many more with the next updates on cakelava.com.
