Lena and Mike's 3-Alarm Wedding Cake
Photos courtesy of Dave Miyamoto & Company
Ever since Lena and Mike got together, things have been heating up! Each day, Mike heads over to Engine 40 to put in another days work as a Firefighter, a job he obviously loves and takes great pride in. When it came to their wedding, this fun-loving couple decided they wanted something totally HOT to share with their several hundred guests who attended their wedding last Saturday at a beachfront venue in Waimanalo. Doing things a little differently, they decided to throw most of the wedding formalities out, including the traditional wedding cake, and have a great big party with their friends and family.
Lena and Mike wanted a truly one-of-a-kind wedding cake designed like a building on fire, that would cause their guests jaws to drop. Rick sculpted a brick building for them, appropriately located on "Lover's Lane", and made his ever-popular custom bride and groom figures of Lena and Mike in a "firemens' carry" position. We decided the fire was at least a 3-Alarm and the custom figures were absolutely precious! To keep the vibe of the cake totally HOT, Lena and Mike chose our Hot Fudge Sundae.
Tomorrow we'll showcase more of Lena and Mike's wedding with an amazing selection of images taken by the super-talented Dave Miyamoto and Russ Ramos of Dave Miyamoto & Company. We've been working regularly with Dave since cakelava first opened and he always manages to capture the spirit of a couple in such a beautiful way. Come back tomorrow and you'll see what we mean.
Even their cake cutting ceremony was playful and fun. Hot Fudge Sundae ... Yum! ...
Lena and Mike's 3-Alarm wedding cake will be up on cakelava.com with our next updates!
