Designing Alyssa and Ryan's wedding cake was a breeze for Rick, or should I say a "Palm Breeze" which is what the color swatch they gave us was called. Alyssa saw our bride Shelby's cake on
cakelava.com, fell in love with it and decided she wanted that exact design, in "Palm Breeze" which we thought would be gorgeous, like Shelby's cake which was a maize yellow shade. Since it was his design, a different color, and a similar number of guests, Rick agreed to make it for the couple. The design of the cake was a breeze. The re-creating of it was a little more difficult, as Rick tried to exactly replicate the cake he had made more than a year earlier and designed well before that. Anyone that makes custom cakes can relate to this I'm sure, but it's more difficult to replicate a cake you've previously designed than to design a new cake with a similar feel. He spent extra time on Alyssa's cake to achieve the same look as before, and it was time well-spent because the cake was beautiful! It perfectly suited its location at
Lanikuhonua on the west side of Oahu, and the coordinator of the event KathE Garcia, did a lovely job decorating the site with varying shades of sage greens and whites. Congratulations to Alyssa and Ryan!
More to come. Aloha, til next time!
