Monkey Orthodontics
We're only half-way through "Rocktober" and we're having a hard time remembering what cakes we did when this month. Thankfully we have a calendar to refer to and I'm reminded that this cute Paul Frank monkey cake was made on Rocktober 4th for a graduation party at Lanikuhonua. Though I may be fuzzy on the exact date of this cake, I'm very clear on the details. Our client Diane and her event coordinator, Lissa Wilson of The Wedding Planners, contacted us to design a cake with a Paul Frank theme for her husband's graduation from Orthodontic school. Rick sculpted the Paul Frank monkey -- we know his name is Julius, we just call him the Paul Frank monkey -- out of cake and put some braces on him along with dental accessories around him including toothpaste, toothbrush and dental floss. Aside from hiring Lissa Wilson who we always enjoy working with, to plan her husband's special day, the super-fab Yvonne Design did the florals, lighting and lounge. Visionari photographed the event, Catering Connection made the cuisine and cakelava made the cake. The color scheme involved a lot of orange, which was also used on the cake. A huge success all around and Diane and her husband Marcus loved their cake. We wish Marcus much success in his new career in orthodontics!
